All New Scouts need to attend Fall Cedar Badge on Oct 1st 2021 for one night.
New Scouts to the Troop that have not received any Leadership Training yet must attend at least one District Leadership Training class, we call that Cedar Badge. The Troop will have another Leadership Training in house also.

Be Prepared When You Show UP!!
1. Check-in starts Friday at 6 p.m. Eat dinner before you check in.
2. Wear a complete Scout uniform, the same one you wear to your troop meetings. No sash. Have a pencil or pen, your Boy Scout handbook, the Patrol Leader Handbook (your troop library may have a copy you can borrow), lots of Scouting spirit! If you have a favorite campfire skit or yell and a favorite prayer or church song, make a note of them or bring copies.
3. Bring your personal camping gear for an overnighter, such as tent, sleeping bag, clothes, flashlight, a cup, 10 essentials, warm jacket, poncho or rain suit. And your Class B Troop uniform.
Scouts from the same unit will not be camping together.
What is Cedar Badge Cedar Badge: Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops teaches Scouts with leadership positions about their new roles and how to most effectively reach success in that role. This district-level event is intended to assist those units with limited training resources, or those interested in giving their leaders additional exposure to unit operations, how to plan campouts, campfires, interfaith services, how to lead songs, and make the youth-run program operate more smoothly.

Boy Scout Recruiting We have Room for one older Scout Patrol also! If you are a Boy between the ages of 11-18, we how have room for 6 Boys to join our Riverside Boy Scout Troop.
Welcome back all Scouts, Scouters and Parents from our long Covid break where we were restricted from Scouting around.
We had our first Troop Court of Honor since coming out of Covid on August 23rd 2021. Lots of ranks, merit badges, totit chits and fire man chits earned.

Neal McGuffey is Boy Scout Troop 270’s most recent graduate to accomplishing what only 6% of all Scouts are able to, becoming an Eagle Scout. Neal took his Eagle Board of Review last night October 21st 2019 at 8pm and soon emerged as another trained leader and model citizen ready to help and serve mankind.
The Boy Scouting Model works well when used properly and Scouts along with Parents are committed to the Program. It develops Boys whom are ready to lead others, kind, polite and caring about our world and others. Join Boy Scouting today!

Brent Nicks – Promoted has passed his Eagle Board of Review on 10.22.19 and is now an Eagle Scout! The highest rank in Scouting!
Brent has become the second Scout from Boy Scout Troop in 2019 to advance to Eagle Scout ranking, we had 2 Scouts in 2 days….a record! Even though Brent has accomplished his Eagle rank early in his Scouting career he plans on staying around to help his Troop and fellow Scouts achieve their Eagle rank also, after all Scouts are helpful. Look forward to a shared Eagle Ceremony in the near future.

When: July 4th 2019 5pm-9pm Where: First United Methodist Church, parking lot, 4845 Brockton Ave., Riverside CA Cost: $5 cash to park, food and drinks $1-$5, porta potties available for free. Note: Bring cash for food and drinks, prices are reasonable. We can take credit or atm card too.The Church parking lot opens and we start serving food and drinks at 6pm. Fireworks start @ 9pm.
Scouts: Scouts arrive at 5pm to set up. Our Scouts do an amazing job running this event. Troop 270 families, please donate 1 case of water and soda and bring to the next couple of meetings. This is a great family event, so bring the entire family and celebrate with us our countries Independence! Scouts will be cooking hot dogs and selling cotton candy, water, soda, and nachos. All money earned goes to Troop 270 to support the boy’s program.
Neal McGuffey is finally finishing up his Eagle Scout project at the Jurupa Discovery Center, he is landscaping a long strip in front of the Museum. Please come on Saturday April 13th from 8am-noon to help him out. Bring soil tilling devices, shovels, picks and gloves. Gourmet Hot Dogs for lunch I’m told.
